Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks: Pig Lib. Fantastic. Why am I just getting into this guy?
Quasi: Hot Shit. Good follow-up to The Sword of God, and with a bonus live disc even. Looking forward to seeing them Thursday.
Ui: Answers. Funky, funky, funky technojazz.
Son Volt: Straightaways. Not as good as Trace, but it’ll make good driving music.
Dressy Bessy: Dressy Bessy. Took a listen or two to grow on me, but I really dig it now. Went to see ’em backstage at the Black Cat last week on a whim, and very glad I did. Always nice to discover a kickass band that’s still flying a bit below the radar, even by indie rock standards. I predict we’ll be hearing a lot more from these cats.
Mike Doughty: Rockity Roll. Just arrived; I’ll report when I’ve heard it.
