Gene pointed out to me a while back that this blog gets a mention in a recent Slate article on blogmaps. The money quote:
At the Metro stop for Columbia Heights, a run-down neighborhood that is emerging as a hipster enclave, the blog map provides evidence of the area’s dual nature: A blog called D.C. Blows, where the downtrodden proprietor claims that “this city sucks like no city hath sucketh before,” sits alongside Notes From the Lounge, featuring the “pathological self-absorption” of a former NYU philosophy major.
Unfortunately, by the self-negating logic of hipsterdom, the fact that Slate seems to be labeling me a hipster entails that I can’t possibly be one. (I think this must be a cousin of Russell’s paradox, but I’m not sure.) It’s probably worth noting, though, that I technically live in Mt. Pleasant, not Columbia Heights… we just don’t rate a Metro stop of our own.
