Please. That George Bush got to leave the White House in a helicopter, rather than dragged from the rear bumper of a Buick, is a testament to the almost mindboggling restraint of the American people. It’s an act of mercy bordering on injustice that the man is facing execration rather than execution. “Derangement” at this point consists in the failure to appreciate how easy he’s getting off.

Julian,
The only thing President George W. Bush is guilty of, is his shameful lack of eloquence whenever he makes attempt at public speaking. Thus making him a poor communicator, perhaps one of the worse of presidential speakers, in recent history.
Other than that, he did everything exactly as I , and a great many other citizen of this Republic expected of our President, under the circumstances. Less you’ve already conveniently forgot. we were attacked by Islamist terrorists. By the way, it wasn’t and cannot be an inside job. Want to know why? Because the effing mastermind of that heinous and cowardly act is still screaming from some caves in Afghanistan for recognition and credit!!!
Your rather awkward and clearly staged ‘rage’ is frankly, tedious. The way I see it, he’s kept us safe and free as it’s his duty to. And guess what, the Iraqi citizens love Dubya for the decision he made. I don’t like the fact that we got involved in Iraq either. But if I was in his position and was inundated by shoddy intelligence at the time, and since Bill Clinton didn’t step up as a leader during his terms, why, somebody with a Texas size cajones had to make the tough decision.

You can’t possibly believe this guff. You are literate, so you can read the approval ratings. Shorter version: George W. Bush is despised by twice as many Americans as love him. The election of 2006 was, as W said, a “thumping.” The election of 2008 was a re-run of the rejection of Bush-era policies.
Given the overwhelming evidence of the failures of the last presidential term, and the aforementioned resulting unpopularity of the Bush administration, the only possible valid criticism of Sanchez’s post is that it’s bordering on obvious.

Presidents have the privilege of enjoying constant, public displays of adoration–usually unearned–wherever they go. They should get the benefit of public displays of scorn as well, when they’ve earned it.

I think Bush did a plausible job in difficult times. I voted for him twice, and am glad that neither Gore nor Kerry was President. Lots of stuff I didn’t like, but none of them is perfect.
