Jim Henley and Jerry Brito weigh in with reactions to the freshly leaked “Shock and Awe” plan. I hope Henley’s right that this is just a bit of psyops, because otherwise the hawktalk about their compassionate desire to liberate the poor, oppressed people of Iraq suddenly takes on the aspect of a horrifically cruel joke that’s not even a little funny. The most chilling quotation on this comes from the plan’s author, Harlan Ullman, who says:
So that you have this simultaneous effect, rather like the nuclear weapons at Hiroshima, not taking days or weeks but in minutes.
I wonder if our favorite bellicose law prof will stamp that one with a trademark “indeed.”
