My American Prospect story “The Revolt of the Comic Books,” previously behind the subscriber firewall, is now available online to the hoi polloi. Though since the online version lacks the abundant and lovely illustrative comic art that accompanies the print edition, it’s still worth looking for a physical copy at your newsstand.
Update: Ezra has some incisive follow-up thoughts at TAPped. (I mean, “incisive” beyond saying nice things about the article…)

Hey Julian,
A colleague just sent me a link to your article, and I thought, is this the same Julian Sanchez that was in my class at NYU? The strange student who confessed to reading The System of Objects by Baudrillard? From the picture, it seems likely. So now I’m an Associate Professor of Comp Lit at Bryant University, and I teach a course on the graphic novel. Just wanted to say hello–glad to see that you are out there disturbing the peace (as in NYC).
