The comments section at RedState is starting to look an awful lot like the old Ron Paul Forums around the time a few sober Paulistas began suggesting that it looked like maybe, possibly, Ron wouldn’t actually be the Republican nominee, and that it might be wise to think about the next step for those who shared his ideals.

My favorite response is from the guy likening saying McCain has already lost to, “I’m sure someone has already said this but my first thought is Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”

The commenters at Redstate don’t seem to be getting much adult guidance from the posters. I’ve been watching Redstate, Powerline, ACE, Malkin, LGF, and a few others pretty closely for the last few weeks (I’m curious how daily events affect what they say and seem to think in comparison to lefties like me) and, while there’s plenty to be said about each of those sites and their contributors – Erick Erickson stands out particularly for his lack of any seeming insight or self-awareness. It’s hard to understand how that site has managed to attain any sort of status, given how dumb the posts tend to be.

Given the current composition of the GOP base, I… do not find this so hard.

I have to say that I really do hope that that view turns out to be a caricature.

Loved the line from Mord in the comment you linked to:
You think he’s ever gotten off his own block?

If they were getting guidance from the posters, or the moderators, the commenters would be even worse off. The phrase ‘dead-ender’ comes to mind.
