Anyone else notice the uncanny resemblance between pop singer Robyn (best known for pressing trigger, as opposed to people button) and Doctor Blight (best known for being voiced by Meg Ryan and battling Planeteers)? I want to put it down to coincidence, but they’ve even got the same pink spandex jumpsuit.

Every time I think I’ve blocked off the part of my subconscious where I keep Captain Planet imprisoned, someone slips him a chisel.

Well, since I had forgotten about them until now, no. Is this the kind of thing that keeps you up at night?

Where does Robyn stand on power-ring-fueled eco-activism?

The villians on that show were pure evil. They were all just trying to pollute for sport or something.
I still can’t believe they allowed Verminous Skumm on the air. He was a seven foot tall hook-nosed Arab rat.
What was up with that?

Ironically, voiced initially by Jeff Goldblum.
I actually thought Zarm was a potentially really interesting character — the idea of another Earth avatar who represents the ugly side of the fuzzy-wuzzy ecoharmony, the fierce Darwinian struggle for survival and reproduction from which it all emerges. I don’t think they ever actually DID anything interesting with that — the real shame of that show was that they would occasionally brush up against something fascinating like that, but didn’t (and probably couldn’t, in a kiddie cartoon) follow through.

My first thought was “Hey, it’s Pete White from the Venture Brothers.”

They both look a lot like Darcy Burner.
