This whole bundle of issues in “intellectual property” is a big opportunity to improve the PR problem you mentioned in your post a few days ago. Libertarian becomes synonymous with right-wing gun nut because a self-styled vanguard publicly freaks out over remote threats to freedom and the rest dwell on inert issues, instead of addressing, for example, digital era questions that are much more in play than the philosophical case against income tax. We could make a lot of allies by digging into the risks of DRM, software patents, the whole idea of government-granted monopolies in thoughts. To the extent we are seen as opposing corporate interests we will also deflect the apologist charge. Are you still using Linux, btw?
