“Nobody Summons Megatron”

February 28th, 2007 · 7 Comments

In case anyone had been wondering, here’s the sound clip from Transformers: The Movie. (The original classic, not what will, in all likelihood, be the Michael Bay abortion.) Fun fact: Megatron’s interlocutor in this scene, Unicron, is Orson Welles in his final screen role. Welles derided it as “a movie about toys who do horrible things to each other,” but I’ve always thought it was the best villain-voice since James Earl Jones pinch-hit for David Prowse.

What an incredibly bad movie and incredibly guilty pleasure.

As an ardent supporter of screenwriter John Rogers, I feel obliged to metaphorically punch you in the throat. And if you bring up Catwoman, I will punch you in the throat again.

Ah, remember when online discussions were civil, and free of threats? Good old Usenet.

Oh, touché. A palpable hit. Utterly blindsided, I was. I even work in a facility called the Core. I will now retire from the field in disgrace. Remember, though, the latest Blue Beetle is cool.

I freaked out when Iron Hide got shot in the face by Megatron.

If Bay cuts the Matrix from the new one, I’m going to be very upset.
