A reader notified me that, as of the late 90s, the state of Texas has had an official state molecule. It’s Buckminsterfullerene, better known as the “Buckyball,” first discovered at the Lone Star State’s Rice University. And a few years back, it was discovered to cause rather dramatic brain damage in some animals at pretty low concentrations. Have we finally uncovered the cause in the apparent rapid decline in the Texan-in-Chief’s rhetorical skills?
