So, over the past couple days, numerous friends have approached me with some equivalent of “Hey, there’s this movie Brick, and one of the characters is you…” Now, since I was about ten, I’ve been hearing I look slightly like Lukas Haas, so I quickly guessed that he was the actor in question. But they all claim it’s not just that—that the character is, in fact, Sanchezian. Now, as I understand it, the character is a guy named “The Pin” who runs a drug dealing enterprise out of his mom’s basement… so I’m not wholly sure how to take that, but I’m going to check it out this afternoon to see whether I ought to be flattered or offended.
Update: Good flick. As for the resemblance, I actually think Haas and I looked more similar as children than we do now, but we’re probably closer in look here than we have been since Boys a decade ago, when we both had rather longer hair. As for other similarities, I think they’re mostly limited to a somewhat overlapping dandyish aesthetic. (As my friend Sommer put it, “You’d carry a cane if you could get away with it.”) I’ll also voice some slight disappointment that (without giving away too much), The Pin gets a pretty raw deal in the movie’s denoument despite being… let’s say one of the less morally reprehensible characters. Sure, he’s a dealer, though that’s only morally problematic from my POV to the extent that he seems perfectly happy to let his junk make its way to teens. Otherwise, he’s a basically OK guy who’s repeatedly shown to be genuinely appalled by violence and eager to keep it out of his business to the extent possible. Plus, he’s a Hobbit fan.

Good god, the resemblance is uncanny. Seriously, that’s one of the closest celebrity resemblances I’ve seen. But since your face is much more familiar to me than the actor’s, I would say that he looks like you, not the reverse!

I’ve actually been wanting to tell you the same thing, but wasn’t sure how you’d take it. I think The Pin is a GREAT character, though.

I guess you don’t look as much like Haas’s “dishevelled, drug-addicted, mumbling slacker” character in Last Days then.

Sounds/looks like he may have been influenced by the comic book character the Shade from _Starman_, from what little I see here.

Haas is cool. I saw him on a late night talk show not long ago (pushing this movie). He was a cool dude in the interview and then he played/sang a song that he had written. It was actually very nice. I’ve never been that into him, but all of the sudden, I think he’s sort of dope.
(Also, let’s not forget that he was part of Leo’s “Pussy Posse” a little while ago. Don’t know if that helps or hurts his coolness. But I’m into it…)

I think you could do the cane thing. Get one that lets you keep booze in the handle, though.
