Well, this is depressing. Via Daily Kos, I come across the following quotation:
Like every other man of intelligence and education, I do believe in organic evolution. It surprises me that at this late date such questions should be raised.
Some wacky contemporary Christian-basher like Richard Dawkins, right? Actually, way back in 1922, it appears that a U.S. president, in this case Woodrow Wilson, could get away with statements like that.

What I find depressing in these cases is that most of these highly-educated and eloquent and contemporary people are mistaken about their support for Socialism or even Communism.
If finding a president or major public figure that’s an “evolutionist”, see how hard it is finding one who’s both an evolutionist and and a classical liberal or libertarian!
